  • Victaulic launches new casting lines for PLN 55 M
  • Victaulic ended investment process, which made the plant in Drezdenko the most modern and eco-ductile iron foundry in Eastern Europe. Launch of two automatic DISA casting lines is the outcome of investment started in July 2010, the value of which exceeded 55 million.
Victaulic in March. launched its first DISA molding line, automatic casting system, and automatic dust removal system, which substantially affects both the quality of the formed castings and improved working conditions in foundries. With the project, there has been a Total change in the production process, which is now fully automated. Additionally, Foundry has implemented modern measuring systems and computer systems for control of production and production management.
Under the investment Mass Processing Station has also been launched. By increasing the budget by PLN 10 M (at first budget was estimated on PLN 45 M) completely new installation of air supply has been installed, which will primarily compress the air extracted through the filter and increase the supply of fresh air to the production hall in foundry. Additionally, silencer have been purchased, which will also contribute to improving working conditions and environmental impact.
"The main purpose of the carried out investment was to improve the quality and precision of casting components and extend the offer with new, technologically advanced castings. We want recently introduced changes, to ensure the highest quality standards in the production process which will help us to broaden the scope of services provided to external customers. I believe that combining the results of global research and development unit of the Victaulic Group located in the U.S. with experience and commitment of Polish workers will result in the achievement of expected results "
As a result of the investment capacity of the plant increased by XX%. Furthermore, through the encapsulation process the amount of waste from production was significantly reduced and working conditions were improved. The new investment will allow the foundry in Drezdenko to perform even more precise castings for manufacturers of industrial valves, railway and automotive sector.
  • 17th may 2011. 50,000 $ annually for projects.
  • Since 16 June 2010 Victaulic Foundry has been working with the Metal Processing Institute (Metals Processing Institute at Worcester Polytechnic - WPI) for laboratory works and analysis of thin-walled castings of ductile iron. Commitments were made to develop five projects worth a total of $ 50,000 each year.
Analytical work is being made, metallurgical sample preparation, chemical analysis performed, tests with an optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, microhardness tests are being carried out and other casting studies. The role of the Institute in these studies is purely secondary.
Up to now two of the five EU projects have been carried out.
The first concerned the reduction of shrinkage defects in thin-walled castings of ductile iron. The complexity of the geometry of the cast is growing. In addition, all world foundries are facing an extremely strict requirements on their quality, so it is necessary to understand and predict behavior of castings made from ductile iron by shrinking. All castings are shrinking, when the metal passes from liquid state into steel. During the cooling of the casting, there are three phases of contraction: contraction of liquid, solidification shrinkage and contraction of a frozen metal. Test results showed that the contraction of the infusion depends not only on the size of the infusion. Very important role in the development of none-shrinking casting has also infusion geometry, contact geometry and configuration of branches.
The second completed project concerned the mechanism of carbide formation in thin-walled castings of ductile iron. Since the discovery of ductile iron efforts were made to produce thinner castings. Demand for light foundry products is growing. Competition in the industry is great, light metals and composites are becoming of highest importance, it is necessary to master the difficult art of manufacturing thin-walled castings reliable. One of the factors limiting the reduction in the thickness of ductile iron castings is a tendency for the formation of carbide. Reduction of cross-casting reduces its strength and forces a higher rate of cooling, which increases the tendency to form carbides. Carbides reduce ductility of the product, they may behave like the places of concentration of tensions and crack initiation points, hence their presence is detrimental to the mechanical properties of castings. The aim of this study was to understand the most important factors influencing the formation of carbides, the degree of elements segregation in complex castings and carbide formation tendency in comparison with the rate of cooling. The survey results show that even with carefully controlled modification of stream segregation (heterogeneity) of modifier is observed in the individual slots. Best results can be achieved with combined modification, ie modification of the tank and modifications to the stream. In the case of many small slots increased segregation may occur in casting, because the mixing time until the filling of every slot is shorter, on the other hand in case of a single, large cast, prolonged clotting time allows for longer mixing.

At the moment Victaulic conducts research for the other three projects.
  • 7th February 2011. Sales of Dismatic Casting Line.
  • Due to modernization of the company Victaulic is selling Dismatic Casting Line.
More details on announcements commercial cooperation subpage.
  • 10th November 2010. Progress in building works.
  • Mass processing station construction is almost finished. Work currently concentrates on warming of the assembly hall and the outer cover. As you can see in the pictures, the whole is maintained in the corporate colors.

Below mass processing station, transformer building were placed. It will provide electrical and power control circuits foundry hall. Expansion of the hall is also proceeding according to schedule. Further work currently concentrates on pouring of foundations and the installation of funnels for filters.

  • On our website, in the "Group of Victaulic", in a promotional video of our foundries appeared. The video was also made in Drezdenko. Take a look!
  • 27th October2010. Progress in building works.
  • Works on housing of the mass processing station came to an end. Currently the station are equipped with windows and interior installations. Main part of work is now the construction of a new hall designated to the new, longer than the previous lines of molding Disamatic 231 A, filter and chimney. It is planned to complete the work of the foundation by the end of October. Timetable for further work:
    - November: begin of montage works in assembly hall
    - December: first dismantling of the old molding line planned for replacement
    - January 2011: installation of new machines
To maintain continuity of production, the replacement time is scheduled to run three-shift system of work.

  • 7th October2010. Further progress in building works.
  • After installing all the necessary equipment, rebuilding of the mass processing station takes place. Visible on strengthening cross-hall (tie), stiffen the entire structure for resistance to wind pressure. Coverage of the station is made of trapezoidal sheet coated with anticorrosive, fastened with screws to the main structure. This design creates a very rigid structure with substantial savings on investment costs. On the other photographs the construction site is to be seen where earthworks are being executed.

  • 21th September 2010. Interview in TV Biznes
  • In today's edition of the Gosc TV Biznes (Guest TV Business) starred Adrian Herberg. Take a look!
  • 13th September 2010. We were written about.
  • In today's edition of Puls Biznesu (Business Pulse) an article containing information about our foundry was published. Enjoy!

  • 7th September 2010. Mass processing station assembly is being conducted.
  • The next stage of construction of mass processing station has began in September. After assembling of the main supporting structure and installation of equipment in the station, the construction of the support structure for the housing of the station was initiated. In the photos placed on the carriers tanks for making molds are visible. Bridge service was mounted above. For the main construction poles and bolts are fixed, to which will then be attached a housing hall.

  • 26th July 2010. New facts from the foundry history.
  • Thanks to Courtesy of Dresden earth lover, Mr. Bogdan Pupla and personal commitment of foundry technical director Mr. Peter Bandura, we managed to reach the extremely important and interesting facts from the history of our foundries. The first mention of the plant dates back to the years 1857-1863, which proves its existence for 150 years!

    We encourage to read it

  • 19th July 2010.Build of Mass Processing Station.
  • In mid-July, assembling of pieces of molding equipment in mass processing station has began. The station is part of the investments for which company acquired EU grants under the Innovative Economy program. Assembly of the equipment in the station has been started even before the completion of construction of a new wing of the production hall. This follows from the optimal use of new construction that serves both the function of the support structure as well as the station is part of the main structure of the new hall. This approach results in significant savings in the material and allows to reduce the surface area of the investment.
